Job description


The Highlights:

The Student Insurance Coordinator will report to the Director of Wellness in CCW and be responsible for the initiation, marketing and maintenance of DePaul Student Insurance, educating DePaul students in areas related to increased understanding of American health insurance, and maintaining communication with internal and external partners. This position is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating education and messaging consistent with DePaul University's Catholic, Vincentian, and urban identity. Such education includes campus-wide initiatives and communications, as well as activities designed for unique student populations. It requires extensive collaboration with the HPW Specialists, university and campus partners to ensure all efforts are successful and students, parents, staff and faculty have access to the appropriate resources. This position will provide holistic individual, group and family support to community members in need.

What You'll Do:

1. Act as a liaison and first point of contact between DePaul stakeholders, carriers, and third party administrators to answer questions related to benefits, policies, and use of Student Insurance.

2. Prepare and present materials utilizing all available communication tools (in person, online, social media, etc.) regarding the implementation, orientation, and health care management throughout the academic year.

3. Monitor and respond to correspondence in the studentinsurance@depaul.edu email account in a timely, thorough and Vincentian manner.

4. Act as a key member of the internal and external team of people operating the plan, including but not limited to eligibility verification, qualifying student groups, individual student account management, identifying medical providers in and around DePaul communities, and record review.

5. Complete all requested service tasks from community and partners utilizing and managing DePaul Student Insurance.

6. Maintain routine customer service hours, both in-person and online, for stakeholders to utilize for drop in services related to health insurance.

7. Adhere to confidentiality guidelines as it relates to FERPA, HIPAA, DePaul University and Departmental policies.

8. Meet regularly with supervisor, and team members to develop and execute service plans.

9. Provide oversight and mentoring to Peer Health Educators in support of campus wide event and wellness campaign planning.

10. Other duties as assigned.

May oversee 1 -2 student employees who work directly with the Student Health Insurance program.

Purchase supplies and equipment for use in office, and use in HPW sponsored events. Selection and purchase of marketing items. Assist with invoicing and expenses associated with student insurance fees. Assist with the use and management of the Student Health Fee.

What You'll Need:

Bachelors degree.
2+ years customer service, data entry, and/or health insurance specific experience, preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Adherence to the Vincentian values and mission of the University.
Ability and willingness to learn and grow.
Degree in Health Services field, preferred.
Creation, use and management of spreadsheets.
Strong people skills. 
Understanding of terminology commonly used in reference to healthcare, health insurance, and related areas.
Flexibility in managing multiple tasks during the same time period.
Eagerness to work with a team of health professionals dedicated to ensuring positive student experiences and outcomes.
Occasional evening or weekend duties may be required.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $47,783 to $57,148. 

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
