JOB SUMMARY
TRIO Student Support Services promotes student success in completing degrees, certificates, and transferring to 4-year institutions. By providing mentoring and intensive advising, tutoring and instruction, the Department improves the likelihood of a student's academic, financial, cultural, and social success
PURPOSE
- Support the success, engagement, and retention of TRIO students by maintaining regular contact with an assigned caseload, promoting program services, and connecting students to academic and campus resources.
- Assist with TRIO outreach efforts, events, and workshops while helping plan and implement student engagement initiatives. Collaborate with TRIO staff, track student interactions, and represent the program in a professional and welcoming manner.
The TRIO Student Engagement person is for KCC enrolled TRIO students only who have completed 1 term at KCC and have a positive attitude. Minimum wage is paid up to 4 hours per week.

- Attend TRIO program events, workshops, and activities to support student participation and engagement
- Maintain an assigned caseload of TRIO students and provide regular check-ins to support academic success and retention either in person or in the TRIO Canvas page.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage involvement in TRIO services and campus resources
- Promote the TRIO program across campus through outreach, tabling, classroom visits, and student interactions alongside TRIO staff.
- May assist in the creation and distribution of promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and digital content
- May collaborate with TRIO staff to plan and support student engagement activities and outreach efforts
- Help connect students to academic support services, tutoring, advising, and other campus resources
- Track student interactions and engagement activities as required by the program by monitoring Sign In sheets
- Represent the TRIO program in a professional, positive, and welcoming manner at all times
- Participate in planning and implementation of student success initiatives and recognition events
- Provide feedback to staff on student needs, trends, and engagement strategies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
- Understanding of TRIO program mission, services, and eligibility requirements
- Basic knowledge of student support services and campus resources
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements (FERPA) and professional boundaries of confidentiality requirements (FERPA) and professional boundaries
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Overall GPA of at least 3.00 required
- Enrolled in a certificate or an Associate degree
- Maintain GPA of 3.0 or higher
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Will work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Will work in close contact with other students
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds for events
