SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Student Parent Ambassador supports Parenting Support Services and a grant-funded initiative serving pregnant and parenting students. This role assists with outreach, advocacy, student engagement, program development, and general office support. The Ambassador represents the program at events, supports student-led initiatives, and contributes to grant planning and implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. Must be in good academic standing.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Must have interest in student advocacy, leadership, or student support services. Experience with outreach, events or student organizations is preferred. Experience or familiarity with issues impacting parenting students is preferred. Ability to facilitate or assist with meetings or group discussions is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists with outreach and tabling at campus and community events.
- Serves as a representative for Parenting Support Services at meetings and events.
- Helps lead monthly hybrid meetings and student focus groups.
- Assists with organizing activities, initiatives, and student engagement programs.
- Supports the development of a Parenting Student organization.
- Participates in grant planning discussions and provides input on program development.
- Communicates with students, staff, and partners in a professional manner.
- Assists with general office and administrative tasks as needed.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Position provides flexible scheduling, and may require occasional evenings or weekends.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
