Position Description:
Dundee-Crown High School is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed leader who will carry out the duties as the Student Council Sponsor.
The purpose of the student council and class council are:
1. To offer the students the opportunity to develop leadership qualities.
2. To provide citizen training.
3. To offer the student body a part of the organization and administration of special activities of the school.
4. To make possible a liaison between the student body, school administration, and faculty.
5. To serve as a service organization benefiting the total school program.
Expectations:
1. Plan 3 "Spirit Weeks" per year which end in a dance or school-wide activity in conjunction with the Athletic Office and football/basketball games.
2. Plan, oversee, and be present during all aspects of Homecoming and Prom activities.
3. Plan 3 school-wide assemblies each year. (Homecoming, Winter and Spring)
4. Work with members of the student council to select, plan and run a variety of student activities throughout the school year, with a minimum of 3 events per year, not including Homecoming events.
5. Provide community service opportunities to membership with a focus on giving back to the surrounding community.
6. Coordinate 3 Blood Drives per school year. This includes making arrangements with the Red Cross, coordinating student council members to assist at the drive, and signing up students to donate.
7. Work with the school to recognize the various employee recognition days.
8. Discuss building needs with the Administration to find possible sources of funds to accomplish building goals.
9. Responsible for all student council events and activities. Student Council members are under the Advisor's supervision, if problems arise or deadlines are not met- it is the Advisor who accepts responsibility.
10. Assist with overseeing the senior class gift.
11. Hold annual Student Council Officer Elections in the spring semester for the subsequent year.
12. Hold bi-weekly meetings
- A specific day of week/time will be determined for all class councils so it does not coincide with other activities.
- Attendance must be recorded.
- Keep notes/minutes from each meeting.
- Meetings will be held more frequently during Homecoming and Prom; or other events taking place.
13. Attending Student Council Meetings
- Assign one student representative to attend each Student Council meeting. These students can rotate.
- This student will report information to STUCO regarding the class, and report back information from STUCO to the class.
14. Pep Assembly participation
- Sponsors will help students lead class participation activities during assemblies.
15. Plan and hold an event/activity
- This needs to be a school wide/community activity.
- The activity will need to be planned, volunteers will be needed, and Admin will need to approve all aspects.

- Coordinate with Activity Directors for the Parade permits with the Village of Carpentersville.
- Secure extra chaperones

- Create work orders for set up and take down
- Hall decorations and plan to take down hall decorations
17. Prom
- Sponsor will assist and aid the Junior and Senior Class plan and execute the event.
- Sponsor will attend and supervise Prom
18. Coordinate other events:
- Adopt a Family (December)
- Teacher Appreciation
- Winter Event (Ice Skating, Dance )
- Presents for Perry Elementary
- Egg Hunt
- Work with the Activity Directors to assist and be at Charger Treat.
19. Communicate with Activities Directors
- Calendar dates will be set
- Communicate with Class Council Sponsors
- Meetings will be held monthly with full group and Activity Directors
20. All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal for Athletics and Activities.
Qualifications:
Previous club leadership experience is preferred.
