Job description

TITLE Weissman Scholar Program Student Assistant
DEPARTMENT Student Advising & Success
REPORTS TO Brian Duggan, bduggan@babson.edu
PAY RATE $15/hour
THE OPPORTUNITY
I am seeking a student employee to work on Weissman Scholar-related tasks for 4-6 hours weekly during the academic year. This student will support the logistics of the program while gaining new skills and showcasing talents.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Program Support
The student employee will help support the logistics of the following programming:
Weissman Wednesday Updates (WWU)
  • Develop/forecast content agenda for WWU.
  • Produce bi-weekly WWUs in MailChimp

Weissman Community Board (WCB), support as needed.
  • Booking meeting space, ordering food and arranging other logistics for monthly Weissman meetings

Alumni Engagement
  • Update LinkedIn pages:
    • Ensure all alumni are on the page.
    • Research and repost WS Alumni accomplishments/significant life moments.
  • Partner with Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving to publish 1 Alumni Weissman Wednesday update per semester.

Scholar Centric
The student employee will be responsible for promoting scholar engagement through the following
Update LinkedIn pages:
  • Ensure all scholars & alumni are on the page.
  • Link scholars' blogs to the page.
  • Brainstorm other content to post on site.
  • Research and repost WS Alumni accomplishments/significant life moments.
  • Improve database/search functionality of Weissman Scholars Program LI Group.

Develop Scholar Support Resources
  • Required course-specific resources (good sites to help understand ACC1000, etc.
  • Project ideation resources
  • Pull from FME
  • Project proposal resources

Project Support
The student employee will help with the following project-related responsibilities:
  • Prepare marketing/promotional materials about completed projects.
  • Conduct data analysis of project receipts based on Weissman pillars, cost categories and trends.
  • Brainstorm ways to scaffold the project proposal process for new scholars.
  • Update instructions on the online project submission forms.

Miscellaneous
The student employee may be asked to work on other projects for Brian or Student Advising & Success (SAS))
  • organizing and analyzing student surveys
  • consulting with SAS staff on special projects (first-gen, other scholar programs, etc.)
  • Staffing the SAS front desk and phones as needed/able.

Assume additional responsibilities as required.

  • Must be willing to develop strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar), which is the official platform for Babson offices, faculty and administration.

To start, all hours will be completed in the Student Advising & Success Suite (on campus/in person). Over time, as confidence in the position grows, some hours may be able to be completed remotely (from student's room or elsewhere on campus).

  • Knowledge about the Weissman Scholars Programs, its scholars and its alumni.
  • Familiarity with Babson, its resources, opportunities and events for undergraduate students.
