Job description
Position Overview
The Associate Director for Career Success advances Founder's College's commitment to student success by preparing students to confidently pursue meaningful careers and continued educational opportunities. Through intentional career development, experiential learning, employer and community partnerships, and individualized coaching, this position empowers students to discover their strengths, develop professional competencies, and successfully navigate their academic and professional journey.
The Associate Director develops and coordinates a comprehensive career development experience that guides students from enrollment through graduation. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and community partners, this position integrates career exploration, career readiness, experiential learning, and post-graduate preparation to ensure every student is equipped for successful transfer, employment, and continued education.
Responsibilities
- Lead the career development continuum by designing, coordinating, and continuously improving a structured student experience that intentionally prepares students for successful transfer, employment, and continued education.
- Develop and sustain employer, alumni, and community partnerships that expand internships, employment, mentoring, networking, and experiential learning opportunities aligned with Founder's College academic programs and student goals.
- Provide individualized and group career development coaching that helps students explore career interests, connect academic experiences to career goals, build professional competencies, and prepare for career success.
- Coordinate career readiness initiatives by delivering workshops, employer engagement activities, networking opportunities, mentoring experiences, and other programs that progressively prepare students for the workforce.
- Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to integrate career development throughout the student experience and connect students with academic, experiential, and career resources.
- Evaluate and strengthen career development initiatives by monitoring student engagement, career outcomes, employer partnerships, and program effectiveness to support continuous improvement. Provide one-on-one counseling to help students explore career goals, interests, values, and skills, administer and interpret career assessments (e.g., personality tests, skills inventories) to gain insights into their strengths and preferences, and assist with informed decision-making regarding majors, career paths, and academic programs based on individual interests and the job market.
- May occasionally operate University-owned vehicles or operate a vehicle on the University's behalf, to transport individuals, equipment, materials, and supplies in support of departmental and University activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Resources, Business, Community Development, or a related field required.
- Four to six years of progressively responsible experience in career development, student success, workforce development, employer relations, higher education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience providing career coaching, advising, mentoring, or student development services that support career readiness and post-graduate success.
- Experience developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with employers, community organizations, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate, and implement programs or initiatives that improve student engagement, career readiness, and student success.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse students, employers, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, build processes, and execute initiatives effectively.
- Ability to analyze data, assess program effectiveness, and use results to support continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using career management, CRM, or student information systems.
- Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with University policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Business, or a related field.
- Experience working with first-generation, , transfer, or historically underserved student populations.
- Experience developing employer partnerships that create internships, experiential learning, or employment opportunities.
- Experience designing and delivering career readiness programming, workshops, or professional development initiatives.
- Knowledge of career development theory, experiential learning, and best practices in career readiness within higher education.
- Experience using career management platforms such as Handshake or similar systems.
