Job description

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for an RN Clinical Educator Nursing to work with the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) department.

Our CVOR features state-of-the-art technology, including Stryker integrated video and a Philips single-plane Hybrid OR. This department comprises 7 operating rooms supporting all cardiac surgery services, including thoracic organ transplantation (heart and lung), mechanical circulatory support, structural heart, congenital, and advanced aortic surgery.

Clinical Educator Job Responsibilities: 

  • Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals. 
  • Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members. 
  • Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them. 
  • Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.

Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master's program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master's program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following: 
  1. Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date
  2. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 
  3. Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
  • Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
  • Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
