Position: LV Cabling Engineer Location: Red Oak, TX Job Id: 1066 # of Openings: 1
TITLE: LV CABLING ENGINEER
LOCATION: Red Oak, TX
POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the department with the installation of copper and fiber infrastructures in datacenter design. Individual will also develop cost estimates and cost budgets for new projects across a portfolio of fast-paced construction projects. Will also be involved in the solutioning, pricing and proposal phases of large design build construction and white space fit-out projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Perform all facets of structured cabling for both copper and fiber, in both horizontal, and vertical topographies on construction sites and live customer facilities.
  • Set-up, maintain, troubleshoot, and decommission new or existing infrastructure within data centers and other related facilities.
  • Create shop drawings and other related documentation for potential change orders during project execution.
  • Assist estimation and procurement teams to ensure correct material orders and project pricing.
  • Compile "as-built" close out documentation upon completion of projects.
  • Perform site walks to assist the estimation team in properly pricing material and labor for new opportunities.
  • 10% or less travel

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in the installation of copper and fiber infrastructures within multi-tenant building and Data Center design
  • Experience in Project management of full-scale data infrastructure/structed cabling solutions.
  • Experience in installing ladder racks, cable troughs, basket trays, and any ancillary materials associated with install.
  • Must have good attention to detail, as well as a strong ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work off Lifts and Ladders with a clear understanding of best safety practices for both.
  • Experience in fiber optic mechanical splicing, single strand and ribbon fusion splicing.
  • Knowledge and exp. in testing point to point fiber connections using MTP, SC, LC, ST in both Multi-mode and Single-mode connection types.
  • Knowledge and experience in testing copper cabling infrastructures.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural design drawings in all environments previously stated.
  • Must be able to communicate with clients, CPG supervisors, and leadership team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and outstanding customer relations skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Must be a US citizen and be able to pass a background check.
  • High School Diploma

Computer Skills:
  • Windows power user skill set, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and experience using Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Strong in Excel and Word)
  • Knowledge and experience fiber testing software, Viavi & Fluke LinkWare.
  • Procore Software for vendor management.
