What You'll Do as Our Structural Fitter

Structural Fitters are the backbone of our operation - you'll prepare structural metal products for welding and bring engineering blueprints to life!

Your Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It!)
  • Craft Excellence: Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products including beams, braces, pipes, and plates
  • Precision Work: Verify conformance using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes - your attention to detail matters!
  • Problem Solving: Align and fit parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers
  • Heavy Lifting: Move parts into position manually or with hoists and cranes
  • Blueprint Mastery: Study engineering drawings to determine materials and task sequences
  • Quality Focus: Lay out and examine metal stock to ensure specifications are met
  • Welding Prep: Tack-weld fitted parts together for seamless final assembly
  • Crane Operation: Lift and move materials using large cranes safely and efficiently
  • Finishing Touches: Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, grinders, and cutting torches
  • Template Creation: Design and construct templates and fixtures using hand tools
  • Metal Shaping: Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to achieve perfect specifications
  • Heat Treatment: Preheat workpieces and perform heat-treating using acetylene torches
  • Installation Excellence: Install boilers, containers, and other complex structures
  • Team Leadership: Direct welders to build up low spots or short pieces with precision welds
  • Quality Assurance: Constantly check your work to ensure it meets or exceeds our high standards
  • Safety First: Maintain work area and equipment with exceptional housekeeping standards
What We're Looking ForEducation & Training
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Vocational training or previous employer training in application tools and techniques preferred
  • Must pass our comprehensive written and/or practical skills test
  • Willingness to complete our world-class training programs after joining the team

Minimum 3 years of fitter work-related experience and/or training required - We want someone who knows their craft!
