Shamrock Consulting

Chicago, IL • On-site

Job description

Shamrock Business Consulting is working with one of the largest General Contractors in the Chicagoland area to find a Project Manager.

You'll run projects through every phase — estimating, buyout, schedule, cost control, and closeout — as the day-to-day owner of the job. The client builds complex work across the Chicago market and has the backlog to keep a strong PM busy for years.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems
  • Manage projects through all phases — estimating, cost control coordination, scheduling, reporting, and document control
  • Administer and execute gradebeam setup and attend walkthroughs as the company representative
  • Set up the process for CMiC
  • Lead project start-up processes and implement the overall project schedule
  • Own management of the project and its day-to-day activities
  • Establish the subcontractor communication process
  • Oversee document management and control, and make sure current documents reach the project team
  • Prepare all documentation required for LEED certified projects
  • Administer the change management process and report major issues involving schedule, changes, and field quality control
  • Run subcontractor pre-construction and OAC meetings and issue minutes
  • Collaborate with the project superintendent on all field-related issues

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Engineering, foreign equivalent, or a related field
  • Six or more years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as a Project Manager or in a closely related role
  • Technology. Strong working knowledge of construction software — CMiC, Bluebeam, Procore, Navisworks, AutoCAD/Revit, Matterport, Power Project, and Excel
  • Preconstruction. Quantity takeoff, unit cost assembly, and collaborative budgeting with select trades and vendors, across every phase from schematic design through construction documents
  • Structural and civil engineering. Peer review and assembly assistance on structural and civil reports for new and existing construction, including the ability to review structural steel calculations and give feedback to engineers of record and subcontractors
  • Financial management. Change order assembly and review, market price comparisons, owner change order assembly and review, and posting contract amount increases
  • Subcontract award. Write a scope of work, competitively bid it, review it with stakeholders, host a scope review, and award the full subcontract
  • Owner contracts. Review terms and conditions and hold compliance through project completion

Why This Role

The project is yours to run. Scope, buyout, schedule, change management, and the day-to-day — you own it, and you have the field and preconstruction resources of a top Chicago builder behind you. This client has the volume to keep good people on real work and a track record of promoting from within.
