We are looking for a Senior Tekla Detailer to lead structural steel detailing in a steel fabrication environment, with hands-on ownership of complex Tekla modeling, detailing standards, and drafting team leadership. This role combines technical execution with process improvement, ensuring fabrication drawings are accurate, consistent, and delivered on schedule. The successful candidate will serve as the company's Tekla subject matter expert while mentoring detailers and establishing best practices that improve quality and efficiency across the department. Responsibilities
  • Produce and review complex Tekla models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication packages for structural steel projects.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide Tekla modeling and drafting standards to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor the drafting team by providing technical guidance, training, and quality reviews.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and production teams to resolve detailing challenges before fabrication.
  • Review structural drawings and specifications to ensure models and fabrication documents accurately reflect project requirements.
  • Perform quality control reviews of drawings and models prior to release for fabrication.
  • Identify opportunities to improve drafting workflows, automation, and modeling efficiency using Tekla.
  • Assist with scheduling drafting workloads and prioritizing deliverables to meet project deadlines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen department processes and technical capabilities.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of structural steel detailing experience with advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or improving Tekla standards, workflows, or drafting procedures.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising detailers in a fabrication or structural steel environment.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection sequencing, connection details, and shop drawing requirements.
  • Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams throughout project execution.
  • Candidates without advanced Tekla experience or structural steel detailing expertise will not be considered.
