What is a Structural Masonry Special Inspector?

A Structural Masonry Special Inspector is a certified professional responsible for ensuring that masonry construction, such as concrete block or brick walls, complies with the approved plans, specifications, and building codes. They perform inspections during construction to verify that materials, workmanship, and installation methods meet safety and quality standards. Their role helps prevent structural failures by identifying issues early, documenting compliance, and working closely with contractors and engineers. These inspectors must have a solid understanding of masonry techniques and often hold certifications from recognized organizations like the International Code Council (ICC).
