Job description

NV5 is a leading provider of tech-enabled engineering, testing, inspection, and consulting solutions for the built environment. We specialize in engineering design, asset management, and geospatial data analytics to support infrastructure resilience and building systems performance throughout the entire asset lifecycle.

We are looking for a DSA Masonry Inspector for a long-term project located in Simi Valley, CA. Starting immediately!


  • Perform continuous and periodic special inspections of masonry construction in accordance with CBC Chapter 17 and DSA IRs.
  • Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and structural details, including reinforcing steel placement, grout, mortar, and masonry unit installation.
  • Inspect preparation and placement of:
  • CMU, brick, and stone masonry systems
  • Reinforcing steel, anchors, and dowels
  • Grout and mortar mixing, proportions, and placement
  • Confirm proper cleanouts, lift heights, consolidation, and curing methods.
  • Observe and verify grouting operations, including pre-grout inspections and post-placement conditions.
  • Maintain detailed inspection logs, reports, and documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid DSA Masonry Special Inspector Certification
  • ICC Reinforced Masonry Special Inspector Certification (or equivalent)
  • ACI certifications (preferred but may include):
    • ACI Field or Laboratory Technician (as applicable)
  • Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in masonry inspection and materials testing.
  • Demonstrated experience on DSA K–12 or public agency projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • California Building Code (CBC), Chapter 17
    • DSA requirements and Inspection Record (IR) documents
    • ASTM standards related to masonry materials and testing
    • Clear, concise verbal communication skills and professional writing for technical reporting

The pay range for this position in California is $45.00 to 50.00 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
