Job Title: Structural Steel Fitter

Job Description

This position offers the opportunity to work as a Structural Steel Fitter in a busy fabrication environment, assembling and preparing steel components for a wide range of construction projects. You will use your technical knowledge, precision, and commitment to safety to interpret blueprints, lay out and fit structural steel, and support welding and fabrication activities while maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret fabrication blueprints, layouts, and technical specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit structural steel components in preparation for assembly and welding.
  • Secure steel parts using clamps, fixtures, and other methods to ensure accurate fit-up and stability.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Measuring and marking (vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components
  • Use of hand tools (spanners, wrenches, files, hammers)
  • Operation of power tools (drills, grinders, saws)
  • Pipe fitting and alignment
  • Knowledge of tolerances, fits, and clearances
  • Welding basics (MIG, TIG, arc – if applicable)
  • Fabrication and installation of parts
  • STRUCTURAL STEEL EXPERIENCE A MUST!

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
