Job description

Sandman Structural Engineers (SSE) is seeking a Structural EIT. As a Structural Engineer at SSE, you are responsible for performing design work on assigned projects with other engineers and technicians to enable the success of our clients and our people.                                                                                                                                                            

Core Responsibilities

1. Design and Technical Work – 90%

Ensure clear and comprehensive designs that comply with current technical standards and regulations.

Key Activities:

  • Performs design work
  • Prepares portions of project documents
  • Edits specifications
  • Performs research and investigations
  • Assists with structural engineering on projects of all sizes

 

2. Project Management – 5%

Ensure efficiency, profitability, and on-time delivery of projects leading to high levels of client satisfaction.

Key Activities:

  • Prepares for and participates in project meetings
  • Works on multiple projects concurrently

3. Administration – 5%

Keep projects up to date in Ajera to ensure clients are invoiced accurately and SSE is paid in a timely manner.

Key Activities:

  • Ensure documents and emails are filed appropriately
  • Accurately record and submit time for each project

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 0-4 years of related experience
  • Passion for structural engineering, innovation, and design
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and commitment to success of both team members and clients
  • Proficient use of the English language, both verbal and written, and adaptable to all audiences
  • Physically able to conduct field inspection and testing as assigned
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • Internship completed with focus in structural engineering
  • Professional Activities: Member of professional organization
  • Community Activities: Involved in local outreach activities, university engineering clubs, etc.

Compensation: The starting hourly compensation for this role is $32-$35. A variety of factors are considered when determining an offer including, but not limited to, market data, geographic location, experience, education, and specialized skills.
