Job description

Summary

Primarily responsible for providing technical support in the development/design of assigned engineering projects. This position will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. This position will work directly under the supervision of a registered professional engineer.

Roles & Responsibilities

· Applies standard industry techniques and procedures to perform tasks for structural analysis and design; including foundations, steel, timber, and concrete framing.

· Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work

· Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of calculation packages and drawings.

· Performs basic design tasks and is familiar with general design standards (i.e. can generate a foundation and framing plan, calculate quantities, determine member sizes and details, and perform calculations with guidance from supervisor)

· Makes precise and accurate updates based on received markups

· Collects data and gathers project related information or documents

· Manages time on project work according to directives from supervisors and Project Engineers/Project Managers and remains communicative and responsive throughout

· Assigns tasks to and coordinates with technicians or administrative/junior staff

· Engages in communication with clients on a limited basis

Job Requirements

· 1-2 years’ experience

· Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited university

· EIT Certification

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and documents

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· General knowledge of all applicable computer software for Engineering discipline and Microsoft Office Suite applications (Autocad Civil 3D, Revit, Outlook, Teams, Excel). Familiarity with structural analysis/design packages.

· Flexibility and time management to work on concurrent projects under deadlines

· Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills

· Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
