Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Architectural Metals Drafter to join our team and support our Custom Architectural Metals projects through the preparation of accurate and professional submittal drawings. In this role, you will work closely with estimators, project managers, engineers and fabrications teams to produce detailed submittal drawings that align with the architectural drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has experience in architectural drafting and an understanding of architectural drawings and specifications, structural drawings, and building envelopes/facades. Experience in metal manufacturing and/or construction is preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed submittal drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details for architectural metal products (louvers, equipment screens, sunshades, canopies, etc.).
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings and translate them into shop and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with Engineering teams to ensure drawings / product comply with building codes and structural requirements.
  • Work with Project Management to coordinate submittals and ensure timely delivery for approval.
  • Revise drawings based on customer feedback or architect redlines and manage revision history accurately.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, feasible, and can be produced efficiently.
  • Maintain organized project files
  • Assist in developing BOMs and identifying potential fabrication issues early in the design process.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Diploma or Certificate from a Technical College / Trade school or Degree in Architectural Design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; Experience with Inventor or Solidworks is a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam or Adobe PDF.
  • Ability to read construction documents such as architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings and specs
  • 2 yrs min experience on the job or as an intern, preferably in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge general fabrication methods, preferably metal fabrication.
  • Attention to detail
