This Air-Cooled Chiller NPD Engineering Manager is responsible for the development and direction of an agile engineering team dedicated to supporting Commercial HVAC scroll and screw compressor chiller products. This role owns the execution of the Scroll and Screw Chiller product roadmap to deliver significant product line modifications and new product initiatives to assure yearly planned revenue generation and margin expansion is met or exceeded. As the resource manager for the Air-Cooled Chiller NPD Engineering Team, this role also supports the entire Scroll and Screw Chiller product life cycle with value engineering projects for further margin expansion and working with product managers/product support for an elevated customer experience. The core Air-Cooled Chiller NPD Engineering team resides in La Crosse, WI; to be successful the Air-Cooled Chiller NPD Engineering team works with Scroll and Screw Chiller Engineering teams located in Pueblo, CO; Shanghai, China and Bangalore, India. Together these teams collaborate to deliver significant modifications to existing product lines, development of new product lines and value engineering projects.
What you will do:

  • Effectively lead New Product Development (NPD) activities necessary to launch new products, enhance existing products or extend the existing product lines to meet the needs of the business.
  • Partner with teams in other regions to accelerate product development activities and product launch.
  • Develop and manage effective engineering practices to support New Product Development activities, including, but not limited to standard work for the team.
  • Coordinate NPD activities for successful product launch at manufacturing facilities.
  • Manage design and delivery to support projects at all complexity levels. Assure engineering designs are always in compliance with appropriate internal and external standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Supervise work for accuracy and assure any design changes do not compromise original product specifications (performance, durability, cost, etc.).
  • Partner with Product Managers in support of Product Growth Teams to influence the product portfolio strategy, long range product plan, and technology roadmaps and align on execution plans to deliver both revenue and margin enhancement goals.
  • Assist with managing departmental, project, and third party costs within functional budget.
  • Accountability for a portion of the annual productivity targets by supporting other engineering teams. Although the primary focus is NPD, the team is still responsible for delivering productivity which pays for the cost of engineering.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams for the support sustaining engineering activities.
  • Support implementation and effective use of the Ingersoll Rand Business Operating System (BOS). Develop and execute on visual management and key performance indicators to proactively manage team dynamics.
  • Manage the active development of personnel to assure constant improvement in departmental skills and capabilities as well as assure a robust succession plan.
  • Both domestic and international travel will be required. Estimated travel time is 10-15%.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and at least 7-years of work experience in an engineering role (including at least 2-years in a project leadership role) is required.
  • Master's Degree is a plus.
