STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is the in-house engineering business line of Structural Group.

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a to join our Strengthening Division located at our Columbia, Maryland headquarters office. If you are seeking a rewarding opportunity with a dynamic, diversified, and innovative company, this role may be for you.

Our Strengthening Division utilizes the latest construction technologies to investigate, repair and strengthen concrete structures including buildings, bridges, parking facilities, and other structures within the commercial, industrial, energy and public markets. Our structural repair and strengthening technologies include fiber reinforced composites (FRP), post-tensioned reinforcement systems, concrete enlargements, and blast & ballistic mitigation systems. We deliver these value-added structural repair and retrofit solutions using state-of-the-art products and engineering support.

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Reviewing project documents, survey reports and other data to support construction projects.
  • Developing and participating in field investigations and condition assessments of structures.
  • Conducting structural analysis and developing structural repairs and strengthening concepts.
  • Developing construction drawings and communicating details with clients, engineers, and construction crews.

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor or master's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering with a minimum of 6 yrs of experience in evaluating and designing concrete structures.
  • Experience in design for gravity loads as well as design of latera load resisting systems.
  • Good understanding of Civil and Structural Codes including ACI 318, ACI 562, and ASCE 7.
  • Knowledge of design of Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite or Post tension is a plus.
  • Strong writing and communication skills and ability to interact with clients, engineers, and construction crews
  • Ability to generate structural models using design software such as Ram, Adapt, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 or similar
  • Ability to perform preliminary and detailed engineering calculations, coordinate with drafters and prepare technical submittal packages and reports.
  • Team and solution oriented with positive attitude.
  • PE/SE registration required.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
