Job description

Position Snapshot: Civil/Structural Engineer - Oil & Gas

Atwell is seeking a licensed Civil/Structural Engineer (PE) with experience supporting structural design and engineering for the Oil and Gas industry. Our current project portfolio includes oil and natural gas, CO, hydrogen, and renewable natural gas (RNG) pipelines, terminals, compressor stations, and processing facilities.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing civil and structural engineering efforts, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, budgets, client expectations, and applicable codes and standards. This position involves developing engineering documentation from concept through construction, overseeing structural analyses, mentoring junior team members, and coordinating across disciplines to support successful project execution.

You will play a critical role in the design of reinforced concrete foundations, structural steel platforms and supports, equipment skids, and pipeline structural systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the civil and structural engineering design for oil and gas infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, compressor stations, terminals, and process facilities
  • Develop construction documents, including structural plans, general arrangements, framing plans, and connection details for steel and concrete structures
  • Conduct structural analysis under various loading conditions including wind, seismic, blast, and equipment loads in accordance with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, API, etc.)
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and reports prepared by internal teams and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams including mechanical, piping, and electrical to coordinate structural requirements across project phases
  • Perform field visits to verify as-built conditions, gather site data, and provide construction support as needed
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and support team development through technical leadership
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure deliverables are met on time and within scope
  • Support quality assurance by implementing Atwell's QA/QC procedures and best practices

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (Master's a plus)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 7+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering for oil and gas facilities or similar industrial infrastructure
  • Proficient in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, or similar
  • Working knowledge of CAD software tools including AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Civil 3D
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Navisworks, or Tekla Structures is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of applicable design codes: AISC, ACI, ASCE, API, IBC
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Pay Range - $100,000 - $150,000 base+, + end of year bonus.
