Job Description

Olsson's Facilities Engineering and Design Team is at the forefront of engineering innovation, providing comprehensive services for large commercial developments, healthcare facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, data centers, and military installations. Our expertise includes engineering analysis, design services, and professional consulting, ensuring top-tier quality and world class installations. We also provide building inspection and forensic investigation services. As a member of this team, you will contribute to diverse, high-impact projects, delivering engineering solutions that make a tangible difference in communities and industries.

As a Licensed Structural Engineer on our North Central Facilities Engineering and Design team, you will perform various engineering and project management duties related to evaluating, designing, and constructing projects. You may assist with developing project scopes and schedules and have the opportunity to coordinate work of other staff members. Opportunities to travel may arise for client meetings or site visits.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform structural design calculations on a diverse range of project types and materials.
  • Prepare design drawings to be used for construction.
  • Prepare project specifications to support construction drawings.
  • Coordinate structural design with architectural and/or other disciplines.
  • Meet project schedules.
  • Attend project meetings with clients.
  • Perform occasional site observations of projects.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist with coordination of project design aspects.
  • Communicate project development and progress with project managers and/or clients.
  • Enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm's project management system.
  • May supervise and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience utilizing structural design and drafting software packages.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit.
