Job description

Build the future, spark innovation and align your career with purpose.

McKinstry is innovating the waste and climate harm out of the built environment and creating lasting impact. Together, we're building a thriving planet.

Buildings are a leading contributor to the climate crisis, generating nearly 40% of total global energy-related carbon emissions. We're making a lasting impact on our industry and within our communities by addressing the climate, affordability and equity crises through:

  • renewables and energy services
  • engineering and design
  • construction and facility services

To get where we're going, we need big thinkers, problem solvers and collaborative mindsets. Does that sound like you?

The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking an Associate Structural Engineer to join our team as a member of our Engineering and Design division. The structural engineering team at McKinstry supports almost all of our business units across the McKinstry enterprise. We support our construction teams designing support systems for MEP equipment, our renewable energy teams in our solar and eco-district work, our off-site manufacturing group in scaling production products and pre-fab systems and our architectural metals group with facade support system design. We also support our in-house architectural team on select new building consulting projects as well as multi-discipline engineering projects.

The Associate Engineer position is a mix of brains and brawn. At McKinstry, you can expect direct / real-time feedback from shop, detailing, field and construction teams for self-performed designs and project challenges. We are fabrication and installation focused. This fast-paced and dynamic environment is where our team operates and where we provide the most value to the different business units that we support. You will get to wear many hats in this role and leveraging excellent communication skills and initiative will be key differentiators for our team.

Engineers at McKinstry are unsurpassed in their ability to combine innovative problem solving with common sense design applications. Because of our design, build, operate, and maintain (DBOM) process and in-house manufacturing capabilities, McKinstry engineers impact every facet of design and construction.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as the project manager and engineer of record on an array of projects and scales.

  • Develop and deliver best-in-class designs.

  • Assist with strategic initiatives within Engineering & Design.

  • Plan and execute your project work to ensure seamless delivery

  • Lead quality assurance for your projects to comply with McKinstry and client standards.

  • Lead engineering sales efforts with internal and external clients --including developing fees & proposals.

  • Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with customers both internal and external.

  • Mentor and supervise staff

What we would like to see from you:
