A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Communicate with technical drafting staff, clients, and others outside the project team
  • Prepare preliminary designs for clients
  • Utilize ASCE, AISC, ACI, and other relevant building codes to produce high‑quality, safe, and economical designs
  • Attend client meetings
  • Coordinate with construction project managers, architects, civil, and mechanical engineers
  • Produce structural calculations for implementation with technical drafting staff during preparation of construction documents, as well as construction
  • Produce construction‑ready design drawings coordinated with all disciplines to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Manage construction administration tasks such as shop drawing review, RFI responses, and coordination with the construction teams
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • 2–5+ years of structural engineering building design experience, ideally in commercial construction
  • Ability to prepare structural designs for steel, concrete, masonry, light gauge steel, and understanding of foundation design
  • Proficiency using Revit independently to create construction‑level structural drawings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of analysis and design programs such as RAM Structural System, SAP2000, RISA, or another recognized 3D design packages is preferred
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) is highly preferred
