Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a transportation Structural Engineer with minimum of 10 years of experience in design of new transportation structures such as highway, transit and rail bridges. Experience with inspection and rehabilitation of existing structures is a plus. The successful candidate will be required to assist senior engineers in performing analysis, developing designs, contract drawings, and specifications for various infrastructure and transportation related projects. Possible locations in California include Roseville, Fresno, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Los Angeles. This role is full-time, though part-time will be considered as well. Your Key Responsibilities
  • Uses knowledge of relevant structural engineering of transportation structures.
  • Preparing design calculations, drawings, and details for various transportation projects.
  • Design of new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures.
  • Review of shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, respond to request for information, oversee testing and monitoring programs.
  • Assist with client coordination including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meeting, review comments etc. Clients include public agencies and private clients.
  • Working with other structural staff and departments to complete projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
  • Proficient in steel, masonry, timber and concrete (incl. precast and prestressed) design.
  • Proficiency in Structural Analysis with SAP 2000, CsiBridge, Midas or similar software.
  • Strong background preparing bridge design calculations and plans per Caltrans Standards.
  • Thorough understanding of design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, Caltrans, AREMA, and CBC.
  • Previous experience on California High Speed Rail Projects is a plus.
  • You place a high emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of your work. In addition, your strong leadership and team building skills are essential to meet the expectations of this challenging position.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree highly desired.
  • 10 years' experience in the structural design for bridges and infrastructure with CalTrans experience.
  • High speed rail experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$100,000.00 - $145,000.00 Annually
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$107,300.00 - $155,500.00 Annually
• Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)-$114,500.00 - $166,100.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
