STRS Ohio is seeking a Securities Trader, Senior Securities Trader or Senior Securities Trader, International to join the Investment/Domestic Equity team. Nearly two-thirds of STRS Ohio's investment assets are managed internally by more than 100 Investment Department professionals.

Compensation:
Grade: TIA-Private - $160,740 - $180,833 (Securities Trader)
Grade: T2A-Private - $192,888 - $216,999 (Senior Securities Trader; Senior Securities Trader, International)

General Summary (Grades TIA-Private & T2-Private):
Under the direction of the Head Trader, responsible for all aspects of State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) currency, equity and equity derivative trading operations.
Summary of Responsibilities (Grades TIA-Private & T2-Private):
  • Execute purchases and sales of global currency, equity and equity derivative securities and contribute to the development and implementation of global equity, currency and derivative trading and execution strategies, including order flow and portfolio-level execution strategies, with the objective of supporting the long-term performance goals of the total fund.
  • Assist the senior securities trader(s) and international portfolio manager(s) in executing international securities trading transactions. (Grade TIA-Private)
  • Collaborate with the STRS Ohio Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) vendor to analyze trading activity, allocate equity order flow to meet commission and Commission Sharing Arrangement (CSA) objectives, and oversee a global commission structure consistent with institutional best practices to reduce transaction costs and optimize execution outcomes. (Grade T2-Private)
  • Maintain a commission structure consistent with best practices for all categories of trading including but not limited to program trading, bundled research trading, and execution-only trading on a global basis. (Grade T2-Private, International)
  • Reconcile the equity transaction cost analysis data to the STRS Ohio accounting system. (Grade T2-Private, International)

Summary of Qualifications (Grades TIA-Private & T2-Private):
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance or related field required.
  • Three or more years equity trading experience required; five years preferred. (Grade TIA-Private)
  • Five to ten years equity trading experience required; ten years preferred. (Grade T2-Private)
  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience leading, coaching, mentoring associates preferred. (Grade T2-Private)
  • General knowledge of the overall equity markets required. (Grade TIA-Private)
  • Extensive knowledge of the overall equity markets required. (Grade T2-Private)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts required. (Grade T2-Private)
