Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced CAD Department Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive CAD expertise, and a proven track record in managing drafting teams to produce accurate and detailed drawings for fabrication and construction.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the drafting/CAD department, overseeing a team of drafters and CAD technicians to ensure the timely and accurate production of fabrication and construction drawings.
  • Develop and implement drafting standards, procedures, and best practices to maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency across projects.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to review project specifications, design requirements, and construction documents.
  • Supervise the creation and modification of detailed 2D and 3D drawings, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to resolve design conflicts, optimize fabrication processes, and streamline construction workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to drafters and CAD technicians, troubleshooting issues, and offering solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Review and approve drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, software updates, and industry trends to enhance department capabilities and efficiency.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting professional growth and development opportunities for team members.

 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting/CAD management, in the miscellaneous metals or structural steel industry.
  • Proficiency in Inventor, Solidworks, Tekla Structures, Revit, or other relevant drafting software.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, and detailing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of motivating and empowering team members.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, quality, and precision in drafting and design work.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of construction codes, standards, and regulations applicable to structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication.
