Moog Space and Defense Group is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Strategic Capture Manager to lead business growth initiatives supporting some of the nation's most critical aerospace and defense programs.

This leadership position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing, and executing new business opportunities across the U.S. Department of Defense, Space Force, Air Force, Missile Defense Agency, and strategic industry partners. The successful candidate will influentially manage a team of experienced business development professionals while collaborating across Engineering, Program Management, Capture, Contracts, Operations, and Executive Leadership to develop winning growth strategies.

The Manager will establish and execute one-year tactical and operational business plans that align with Moog's long-term strategic objectives while advising senior executives on emerging defense markets, customer priorities, competitive positioning, and investment opportunities.

To be considered for the Strategic Capture Manager position, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Military Science, or related technical discipline.

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in Aerospace, Defense, Government, or related industries.

  • Experience supporting strategic deterrence, missile defense, hypersonics, space systems, or nuclear command and control programs.

  • Experience with DoD requirements development, operational capability planning, or systems engineering.

  • Established relationships with Air Force Global Strike Command, U.S. Space Force, Missile Defense Agency, Air Force Materiel Command, DARPA, or other major defense organizations.

  • Demonstrated success leading teams of experienced professionals or managers.

  • Experience developing and executing business development or growth strategies.

  • Strong understanding of Department of Defense acquisition processes.

  • Experience influencing executive-level decision makers.

  • Ability to develop strategic partnerships with customers and industry teammates.

  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.

  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and executive communication skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 35%.

  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.

This position includes responsibility for:

  • Leading strategic business development efforts across Space and Defense markets.

  • Managing and coaching experienced Business Development professionals and managers.

  • Developing customer engagement strategies with senior government and industry leaders.

  • Identifying and pursuing new opportunities supporting strategic deterrence, missile systems, space systems, command and control, autonomous systems, and next-generation defense technologies.

  • Developing capture strategies and supporting proposal efforts from opportunity identification through contract award.

  • Building long-term customer relationships across DoD, Prime

  • Contractors, National Laboratories, and international partners where appropriate.

  • Supporting strategic partnerships, technology investments, pricing strategies, and new market entry initiatives.

  • Advising executive leadership regarding competitive positioning, market trends, and customer investment priorities.

  • Managing key elements of operational plans with measurable contribution toward business growth and financial performance.

  • Supporting profit and loss objectives through successful business growth and portfolio expansion.

Your responsibilities in the Strategic Capture Manager role will include:

  • Lead a high-performing Business Development organization responsible for strategic growth across Space and Defense markets.

  • Develop and execute annual operational business plans aligned with Moog's strategic objectives.

  • Build trusted relationships with executive leadership across government agencies and major defense contractors.

  • Identify emerging customer priorities and translate them into actionable growth strategies.

  • Support capture planning and proposal development for strategic pursuits.

  • Mentor and develop Business Development professionals while creating a culture of accountability and collaboration.

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Contracts, and Finance to ensure successful opportunity execution.

  • Evaluate mergers, partnerships, technology investments, and collaborative growth initiatives.

  • Monitor competitive activity and recommend investment priorities to executive leadership.

  • Represent Moog at industry conferences, customer engagements, and executive-level meetings.

  • Support portfolio planning with measurable contribution toward revenue growth and profitability.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $190,000.00-$220,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
