The Specification Strategy Owner is responsible for defining our product and vertical specification strategy for the digital specification experience and business development manager (BDM) teams. They will author guide specs, schedules, and specification resources within our digital specification tools, and for our sales team and customers. Reporting to Sr. Manager Digital Specification Enablement this role works closely with engineering, sales, product management, and externally with customers and vendors.
Essential Job Functions
  • Develop category plans with product management to build and maintain guide specifications and schedules by vertical and section
  • Conduct market, spec share and quotation analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning
  • Owns standards for product and bundle engineering descriptions and engineering features to be implemented on dynamic specification sheets and digital specification experience
  • Deliver product strategy and content to Digital Specification Experience Manager to create guided selling, vertical and regional product sets, calculators, etc.
  • At the request of sales and our customers, author, update and convert written specifications and schedules to support active projects and firm specifications
  • Develop educational materials and technical resources to enhance customer understanding of how to specific Zurn Elkay products
  • Onsite and virtual sales support with BDMs, reps, engineers, and architects to upgrade specifications and drive adoption/ utilization of specification tools and resources
  • Provide feedback to product development teams regarding market needs and customer pain points
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, defining solutions and influencing their roll out.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to educate and influence stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into customer-friendly solutions
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., ASPE, ANSI, EN 1253)
  • Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with engineers, architects, contractors, and facility owners
  • 10+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, or product management within the plumbing or drainage industry
  • Experience using CRM tools and data analytics
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%

The compensation range identified below is a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on compensable factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training, and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Base Salary Range: $101,712 - $139,854
