Job Description

The Senior Manager, Projects Strategy & Finance will support the development and execution of corporate and project-level strategy across the organization. The role will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to evaluate strategic priorities, solve complex business and project challenges, develop decision frameworks and business cases, and drive critical initiatives from analysis through execution.
The Senior Manager will play a key role in translating company strategy into actionable plans, improving how major projects and strategic initiatives are structured and managed, and providing rigorous analytical support for high-impact decisions. The role will require strong strategic judgment, financial and analytical capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively across functions in a fast-growing and evolving organization.


Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Lead the identification and evaluation of new business capabilities and services that X-energy can monetize for customers, including in-depth market and competitive analysis.

  • Partner with finance, business development, engineering, and commercial teams to identify unique capabilities and competitive advantages, and set the strategy, including monetization, go-to-market approach, and risk assessment.

  • Own the development of comprehensive business cases for new business capabilities and capital projects, integrating cost estimates, schedules, phasing, escalation, financing, risk assessments, and returns from early feasibility through execution.

  • Drive alignment and clarity across internal stakeholders, executives, engineers, and commercial teams by presenting, defending, and explaining financial models and business cases.

  • Develop and drive project-level strategies for major customer and deployment projects, including objectives, priorities, critical decisions, risks, dependencies, and execution pathways.

  • Lead analysis of complex, cross-functional business and project challenges and develop clear recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Translate strategic priorities into operating plans, decision frameworks, workstreams, and measurable actions.

  • Partner with business development, project development, engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, and other teams to align strategy with execution.

  • Develop business cases, scenario analyses, and financial analyses to inform strategic and project decisions.

  • Identify key project and organizational risks, constraints, and tradeoffs and help develop mitigation strategies.

  • Support the design and improvement of processes, governance, and operating models needed to execute major strategic initiatives effectively.

  • Drive continuous improvement of modeling processes, tools, templates, and data architecture to improve speed, accuracy, and transparency across the organization.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to associates and analysts supporting strategic work and business case development.

  • Support departmental leadership with other activities related to the financials of current projects and strategic initiatives.

  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • Typically, twelve plus years of experience in corporate and project strategy, financial for infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects, management consulting, or similar business roles.

  • An MBA with related experience in strategy, finance, or similar business roles, with a strong focus on business case development, and strategic planning, may be considered in lieu of some of the years of experience above.

  • Experience building and owning end-to-end financial models for major infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects, and presenting them to executive leadership.

  • Experience navigating both the technical and commercial sides of a project, partnering effectively with engineering, commercial, and finance teams.

  • Strong Excel modeling skills, with the ability to build models from scratch, create sensitivity cases, and structure models thoughtfully.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial information for both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior team members supporting financial modeling and strategic planning.

Travel Expectations: 10% (as needed for project assignment)
Hours: Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday - Friday

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.

Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual's qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:

$180,000 - $205,000. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.
