What you'll do...Role summary: As a Staff member in Technology Strategy, leads strategic planning and execution for Walmart's Marketplace Tech & AI Strategy organization, translating market trends and business priorities into actionable technology roadmaps. This role owns cross-functional delivery— coordinating resources, tracking risk, and driving governance — so complex, multi-team initiatives land on time and within budget. Success requires fluency in financial management and the ability to influence senior stakeholders, paired with a genuine commitment to mentoring associates and upholding Walmart's standards of integrity as the team advances innovative technology solutions.

The Marketplace Tech & AI Strategy team drives enterprise-wide execution by integrating technology, operations, people, and investment through a unified platform. The team establishes sustainable governance and operating rhythms, enabling independent advancement of initiatives. Focused on strategic planning, risk management, and data-driven investment decisions, it aligns technology strategy with business goals to support lasting transformation. By emphasizing effective project management, financial oversight, and stakeholder collaboration, the team ensures streamlined delivery and continuous improvement across Walmart’s marketplace technology landscape, fostering value creation and operational excellence.
What you'll do:
  • Translate market, competitive, and AI-driven trend analysis into technology strategy recommendations that shape the Marketplace roadmap.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and finance leaders to scope initiatives, sequence priorities, and clear roadblocks to executin.
  • Own program governance — schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status communication — across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Build the business case for technology investments, including cost modeling and gap analysis to support decision-making.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and build consensus across teams outside your direct reporting line.
  • Develop contingency plans and adapt strategy as market and economic conditions shift.
  • Coach and develop associates, fostering a team culture built on ownership and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years of experience in technology strategy, program/portfolio management, or a related field, including work within a large, matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects end-to-end, including budget and risk ownership.
  • Strong track record in financial modeling, gap analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML strategy, investment prioritization, or platform governance.
