Position Summary

You will lead business strategy and performance for Development Sciences (DevSci) a Global Team. You will partner with cross-functional leadership to translate strategy into measurable plans and operational outcomes. Your role will track performance, manage governance, and enable strategic operational improvements and project implementation. We value clear decision-making, collaboration, and people development. You will make a visible impact on how science, technology and talent come together to get ahead of disease.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to Partner with the DevSci leadership team to shape, co-lead, and deliver strategic priorities, annual business objectives, planning, and align change with transformation initiatives. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Lead end-to-end performance management for DevSci strategy. Including targets and designing foundational DevSci performance management frameworks, dashboards, and reporting.

  • Set with leadership the operational plan that will deliver our mission and vision for DevSci.

  • With leaders define functional strategic workforce needs and align with DevSci strategy and objectives.

  • Design and run governance forums that enable timely decisions and transparent risk management.

  • Lead the operating rhythm for the VPs' leadership teams, including leadership team agendas, decision forums, governance processes, and follow-through on actions.

  • Coordinate priority-setting and resource allocation across initiatives, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy and business needs within end-to-end pipeline delivery.

  • Partner with finance, operations, and functional leads to translate strategy into delivery plans and forecasts.

  • Lead key business project design and implementation to deliver step changes in operating model.

  • Coach and develop team members, and build cross-functional capability to deliver strategic priorities.

  • Provide clear, concise updates to senior leaders and stakeholders, turning data into actionable insight.

  • Drive organisational effectiveness by improving business data, insights, processes, decision quality, role clarity, and cross-functional ways of working.

  • Drive insights and continuous improvement of key processes, tools and ways of working to increase speed and quality.

  • Lead or support high-priority projects on behalf of the function, including change initiatives, new operating models, and implementation of enabling processes or tools.

  • Build cross-R&D, Medical and Commercial Strategy & Performance leader matrix understanding to identify opportunities/challenges to improve performance.

  • Develop concise executive communications, briefings, and presentations that support strategic alignment, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Inform goals, risks, milestones, and resource plans aligned with our operating model through comprehensive reporting and oversight.

  • Use data, technology (including AI tools), and process insight to drive continuous improvement and strengthen business performance.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to LT and LT-1 senior leaders, providing challenge, synthesis, and practical recommendations in ambiguous or fast-moving situations.

Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals

  • Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Significant experience in strategy, operations, or performance roles in life sciences, pharma, biotech, or related industries.

  • Experience working with financial plans, KPIs, forecasting and performance tracking.

  • Strong stakeholder management and experience running senior leadership operational or project steering committees.

  • Demonstrable people management experience with a record of developing matrix teams.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex information simply.

  • Advanced ability to work in matrix organisations and across multiple geographic locations.

  • Experience using data and business insights to drive performance and decision-making using AI tools.

Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSc, or similar) or equivalent leadership experience.

  • Experience in R&D or development sciences environments and leading operational or change projects.

  • Strong change management experience and a track record of implementing operational improvements.

  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools, data visualisation and process automation.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations relevant to clinical and non-clinical development sciences.

  • Business strategy or consulting experience gain directly through consulting firms or in house within business


Working Arrangement -Hybrid
This role can be based at the following office locations:

Waltham, Boston, MA, USA

This role is hybrid, you are expected to be on-site 2/3 days per week, to connect with teams and stakeholders. Some travel may be required for cross-site collaboration.

Skills

Business Growth, Data to Insights, Digital Fluency, Employee Empowerment, Enterprise Thinking, Scientific Literacy, Self-Awareness If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $179,850 to $299,750. The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave. If salary ranges are not displayed in the job posting for a specific country, the relevant compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.
