Job description

  1. Maintains professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  2. Improves the supply chain performance through improved supply chain planning practices.
  3. Devises short-term and long-term cost reduction strategies for assigned categories while ensuring supply continuity, service, and quality. Forecasts market disruptions and identifies clinically appropriate solutions. 
  4. Execute category management and strategic sourcing plans in accordance with the organizations Management Action Plan to meet cost savings goals. Utilize both internal and external data effectively to make knowledgeable decisions to drive cost savings.
  5. Conducts assessments of existing products/services, evaluating opportunity using benchmark, tier optimization changes, utilization review and/or product conversions. Includes Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and Non-GPO contracted categories. 
  6. Manages relationship with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to ensure optimal value.
  7. Drives organizational-wide product and service change and serves as an internal advocate of McLeod Health product standardization/utilization initiatives. 
  8. Subject matter expert for sourcing knowledge of assigned categories, stays abreast of the changing supply market & new technologies and is able to effectively interface with supplier & customer (Clinical and Non-Clinical).
  9. Act as main point of contact for current supplier partners and new business prospects. Research and analyze supply and service options and market trends of current and potential vendors.
  10. Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including cost and terms of supply, service, and quality. Ensuring compliance with all industry regulations. 
  11. Coordinates planning, scheduling and leading business reviews with suppliers, department staff and or customers. Communicate with suppliers on performance and service issues; resolve problems with vendors that affect service levels provided to the hospital.
  12. Performance evaluations with both internal and external stakeholders, and drives supplier improvement projects to enhance innovation and quality, reduce cost, and improve supply chain service / efficiency. 
  13. Supports request of new products and works collaboratively with the Value Analysis Program. Supports the Value Analysis Program meetings via attendance, presentation (construction and delivery), and follow-up on opportunities and initiatives.
  14. Performs and validates all cost savings analysis, in collaboration with the Clinical Value Analysis Facilitator and Contract Analyst as applicable.
  15. Manages competitive sourcing processes (RFI / RFQ / RFP), supplier selection, and contracting process.
  16. Identifies and elevates areas of highest risk in the assigned category and sites and leads multi-functional teams to develop actionable risk mitigation strategies.
  17. Oversees contract review process for supply chain. Outlines contract deliverables for the Contract Analyst and Purchasing Agent, purchase structure and other key terms.
  18. Assist in preparing capital budget plans and procurement process.

Communicates identified and executed savings to Supply Chain Leadership and Executive Leadership.

Work schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly

Qualifications/Education/Training:

  • Combination of education or experience that  provides the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the functions of the position proficiently will be considered.
  • Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Management Preferred, Masters in Nursing considered.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in product management, category management, or strategic sourcing is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing concepts is preferred.
  • Experience in procurement in progressively responsible positions in a highly regulated/analytical environment is a plus
  • Advanced ability to collaborate and negotiate.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office solutions: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access.
  • Willingness to travel internal and external to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), is preferred.

  • Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional (CVAHP) is preferred

  • Nursing Licenses is preferred.
