The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role serves as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and executive team, combining analytical depth with hands-on execution across the Company’s financial and strategic priorities.


As Senior Associate, Strategic & Corporate Development you will partner with leaders on FP&A activities (including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling), support corporate finance and capital allocation decisions, contribute to investor relations by helping prepare earnings and investor materials, and provide rigorous analytical support on M&A, strategic partnerships, and contract negotiation.


In this role, you will translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations, build and maintain models and dashboards, prepare executive- and Board-ready materials, and coordinate cross-functional workstreams to ensure strategic initiatives are well-analyzed, well-communicated, and well-executed. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role that turns strategic direction into concrete analysis, decisions, and outcomes, while continuously improving how Tantalus plans, invests, and communicates with its stakeholders.

Location of Position:

This position is in office and located in our Norwalk, CT office

Specifically, the Senior Associate, Strategic & Corporate Development will:
Strategy & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor macro and sector trends in the electric utility, smart grid, and cleantech markets and synthesize them into actionable strategic insights for the CEO and leadership team.
  • Conduct competitive landscape analysis, market sizing, and benchmarking to inform product strategy, go-to-market decisions, and corporate development priorities.
  • Prepare executive-level briefings, industry analyses, and strategic memos on emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and competitor activity.
  • Support the CEO on ad hoc strategic projects and special initiatives as they arise


Strategic Finance and FP&A

  • Develop and maintain financial models, operating forecasts, and multi-year financial plans.
  • Partner with Finance on quarterly and annual budgeting processes.
  • Build scenario and sensitivity analyses to support executive decisions on capital allocation, pricing strategy, and business development opportunities.
  • Prepare financial performance summaries, KPI dashboards, and variance analyses for leadership review.


Corporate Development, M&A and Partnerships

  • Support the preparation and continuous improvement of investor-facing materials, including investor presentations, earnings releases, earnings call prepared remarks, and shareholder letters.
  • Screen, evaluate, and prioritize inorganic growth opportunities including acquisitions, strategic investments, and technology partnerships.
  • Build detailed financial models encompassing discounted cash flow (DCF), accretion/dilution, and comparable company analyses in support of M&A evaluation.
  • Coordinate and manage due diligence workstreams, across Finance, Legal, Engineering, Sales, and other teams.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, deal summaries, and management presentations to support executive and Board decision-making.
  • Support post-acquisition integration planning and development including ntegration playbooks, Day 1 readiness checklists, and 100-day integration plans.


Investor Relations & Capital Markets

  • Support the preparation and continuous improvement of investor-facing materials including investor presentations, earnings releases, earnings call scripts, and shareholder letters.
  • Own and maintain consensus model trackers, monitoring EPS estimates, revenue forecasts, price targets, and analyst ratings across all covering research banks, and prepare regular briefing summaries for the CEO.
  • Coordinate relationships with sell-side research analysts, managing information flow and logistics for meetings and non-deal roadshows.
  • Help articulate Tantalus’s ESG and clean energy transition narrative for linking grid modernization and utility decarbonization into a compelling investment story.


Strategic Partnerships & External Stakeholders

  • Help identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships with utilities, technology vendors, industry associations, and other ecosystem participants.
  • Support contract negotiation preparation, partnership structuring analyses, and ongoing partner relationship management.
  • Represent Tantalus professionally with investment bankers, consultants, and other external advisors as directed by the CEO.


Board & Executive Support

  • Assist in the preparation of Board of Directors meeting materials including board packages, committee presentations, and supporting analyses.
  • Ensure materials are accurate, well-organized, and delivered on schedule; manage Coordinating board meeting logistics with the executive assistant and Chief Counsel & Administrative Officer.
  • Maintain a library of Board-approved strategic and financial reference materials.


Industry & Customer Engagement

  • Develop high-quality presentation materials for customer engagements, industry conferences, and trade association events.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Sales, and Product teams to ensure external-facing content is consistent with the Company's messaging, branding, and strategic positioning.
  • Support keynote preparation and speaker materials for the CEO and other senior executives.


What you Bring:

Education and Experience:

  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, strategic finance, FP&A, or a related analytical field, including at least 2 years in an analytical, strategy-focused role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, or CBV are an asset.
  • Exposure to M&A transaction processes, capital markets activities, or corporate strategy in a growth-stage or publicly traded company.
  • Experience building and interpreting complex financial models to support senior executive decision-making.
  • Experience preparing executive-ready materials (presentations, memos, briefings) for senior leadership, Boards, or investors.
  • Comfortable with Office 365 with advanced proficiency in Excel (complex financial modelling, pivot tables, Power Query) and PowerPoint (executive-quality presentation design).
  • Experience using data visualization tools (like Power BI, Tableau) and financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with AI-powered research and productivity tools to accelerate research, synthesize information, and draft clear, concise executive level communications.
  • Prior experience in the electric utility, energy technology, cleantech, or infrastructure sectors is an asset.
  • Ability to use Python or similar tools for data analysis, financial modelling automation, and workflow scripting is advantageous.
