This opportunity entails being responsible for preparing and analyzing financial data, trends, and performance to provide insights and recommendations to leadership. This position will involve comprehensive financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and decision support activities, enabling the organization to make informed financial decisions. May support corporate, divisions, and specific duties will vary according to where the analyst is assigned.
Responsible for preparing and analyzing financial data, reconciling General Ledger accounts and supporting various departmental initiatives. This role supports NC Turnpike Authority monthly accounting duties performed by the Financial Operations team. Analyzes data and variances with an ability to research transactions and perform specific duties as assigned.

What You'll Do:

  • Provides intermediate-level financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, and modeling to support management decision-making.
  • Synthesizes large amounts of data into meaningful summarized reports to enhance leadership's ability to understand the information and make decisions.
  • Assists in the basic design and development of business applications with Excel and/or HNTB Enterprise Reporting Solutions.
  • Facilitates monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial planning activities.
  • Generates, creates, and evaluates standard and ad hoc financial and business-related analysis under minimal guidance.
  • Develops graphs, charts, and presentations to clearly show data trends and projections. Provides interpretation of data.
  • Analyzes issues that affect Sales, Revenue, Earnings, and Cash.
  • Partners with other groups/functions at the division and corporate levels, and other internal clients when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related degree and 2 years finance or related experience, or
  • In lieu of education, 6 years finance or related experience

Essential Functions:

  • Provides intermediate level financial analysis including review of data and completion of General Ledger Account reconciliations to the NC Turnpike Authority detailed subledger activity.
  • Synthesizes large amounts of data into meaningful summarized reports to enhance leadership's ability to understand the information and make decisions.
  • Supports more experienced Accountants in routine, basic or intermediate tasks in maintaining or developing business applications with Excel and/or data reporting.
  • Analyzes issues that affect Revenue, Cash, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and contractual liabilities.
  • Prepares and enters journal entries as needed.
  • Supports Back Office inquiries into customer transactions by researching data in various applications such as banking or credit card systems.
  • Required to learn new systems including SAP General Ledger, Integrity (NC Turnpike Authority tolling operating system), and various online banking applications.
  • Supports monthly and annual ad hoc audit and financial planning activities.
  • Generates standard financial and business-related analysis under guidance.
  • Updates or develops process documentation. Able to evaluate processes and recommend enhancements or efficiencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Intermediate-level analyst with prior experience reconciling General Ledger accounts
  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles, with ability to prepare journal entries
  • Strong Excel and Word Skills
