Job description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Nursing (RN) to oversee Med/Surg and ICU services at a critical access hospital in Tillamook, Oregon. This leadership role is responsible for driving clinical excellence, operational performance, and financial outcomes while ensuring high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance across assigned departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and supervision of nursing operations for Med/Surg and ICU units

  • Maintain accountability for financial, operational, and clinical performance of assigned departments

  • Collaborate closely with medical staff and executive leadership to establish clinical standards and strategic direction

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements

  • Develop, implement, and oversee policies, procedures, and clinical programs

  • Monitor and improve patient care quality, safety outcomes, and patient satisfaction

  • Lead staffing strategy, workforce planning, and productivity management

  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff development

  • Drive process improvement initiatives and implement innovative care delivery models

  • Manage departmental budgets, cost controls, and revenue optimization strategies

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Schedule & Assignment Details:

  • Day shift, exempt leadership role

  • 13-week assignment (potential for extension)

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oregon or ability to obtain)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred

  • Minimum 5+ years of nursing leadership experience preferred

  • 4+ years of acute care hospital experience required/preferred

  • Strong background in Med/Surg and ICU operations

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, budgeting, and performance management

  • National certification in nursing leadership or specialty area preferred
