Business Development Manager/Director

We are seeking a driven and strategically minded Business Development Manager/Director to lead sales and account management efforts for our drug delivery contract manufacturing offerings. This role will focus primarily on developing and growing opportunities for proprietary device molding and assembly, as well as assembly, labeling, and packaging services. The successful candidate will identify and close new business, strengthen existing customer relationships, and position our manufacturing capabilities as strategic solutions for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and drug delivery customers.

This position is field based, with travel expected to support customer meetings, site visits, and industry events. Ideal candidates will have experience selling technical contract manufacturing services in regulated healthcare markets and will be comfortable working across commercial, technical, quality, and operations stakeholders.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

New Business Development:

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities for drug delivery contract manufacturing services, with emphasis on proprietary device molding and assembly and combination product assembly, labeling, and packaging programs.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies targeting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and combination product companies seeking outsourced manufacturing support.
  • Build a pipeline of opportunities across development, clinical, launch, and commercial-stage programs where technical manufacturing expertise and reliable execution are critical decision factors.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to generate leads, expand market visibility, and strengthen the company's position in drug delivery manufacturing.
  • Leverage CRM tools, market intelligence, industry networks, and internal referrals to identify and prioritize high-potential prospects.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Manage and grow relationships with both existing and prospective customers, serving as a primary commercial point of contact for assigned accounts and opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer pipelines, outsourcing strategies, device platforms, program timelines, and manufacturing needs to position appropriate solutions.
  • Serve as a consultative partner by translating customer requirements into actionable opportunities for molding, assembly, labeling, packaging, and related manufacturing services.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engagement with technical, quality, operations, program management, and leadership teams to support proposals, customer visits, onboarding, and ongoing account success.
  • Support contract negotiations, pricing discussions, development agreements, supply agreements, and long-term commercial manufacturing relationships.

Sales Intelligence:

  • Identify opportunities where the company's platform autoinjector offerings may complement customer needs, while keeping the primary focus on contract manufacturing services.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts to appropriately position autoinjector platform capabilities when relevant to customer programs.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends in self-administration, combination products, and injectable drug delivery to inform business development strategy.

Platform Autoinjector Support:

  • Work closely with internal technical, quality, operations, program management, finance, and leadership teams to develop compelling proposals, pricing strategies, and account plans.
  • Collaborate across business units to identify opportunities that connect historic service offerings with new drug delivery manufacturing capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunity status, forecasts, and pipeline activity in CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on sales pipeline, account activity, market feedback, customer needs, and revenue projections.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of technical contract manufacturing services, preferably including injection molding, device assembly, secondary packaging, labeling, medical device manufacturing, combination products, or regulated healthcare manufacturing environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
  • Ability to analyze customer pipelines, outsourcing needs, program timelines, competitive dynamics, and market trends to strategically position manufacturing services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customer meetings, industry events, and internal business reviews.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment, collaborating across diverse teams and business units.
  • Fluent in English; additional language proficiency is a plus.

  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for operation of a computer.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally.
  • Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
  • Occasional exposure to typical manufacturing physical hazards.
  • Travel by air or car occasionally
