Job description

The National Accounts Business Development Manager (BDM) is a revenue-generating sales professional responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new national commercial fleet customers for Stellantis. This role is focused exclusively on new business acquisition and conquest sales, targeting large commercial fleets, corporate accounts, private sector organizations, and high-potential national customers that are not currently purchasing Stellantis fleet products or working through a fleet management company.

The National Accounts BDM develops and executes strategic growth plans to expand Stellantis market share through the sale of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, FIAT, and Ram vehicles, while positioning Stellantis as a preferred mobility and fleet solutions provider. The role requires extensive prospecting, executive-level engagement, complex sales strategy development, and the ability to navigate large organizations and procurement processes.

Working independently and collaboratively across the organization, the National Accounts BDM builds relationships with senior decision-makers, procurement leaders, fleet managers, fleet management companies, upfitters, and industry influencers to identify opportunities, develop customized solutions, and convert competitive accounts into long-term Stellantis customers.

The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, maintain a robust sales pipeline, and consistently deliver conquest sales growth while promoting Stellantis products, programs, and commercial vehicle solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Conquest Sales

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new national fleet and commercial business opportunities across targeted industries and market segments.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans designed to grow Stellantis market share through conquest sales.
  • Build and maintain a robust national sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, market intelligence, and targeted outreach.
  • Engage executive-level decision makers, procurement leaders, fleet managers, operations leaders, and business owners to identify fleet acquisition opportunities.
  • Lead the sales process from initial engagement through proposal development, negotiation, implementation, and successful fleet acquisition.
  • Analyze customer business needs and develop tailored fleet and mobility solutions that align with operational and financial objectives.
  • Develop strategies to overcome competitive objections and successfully convert customers from competing manufacturers.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, fleet reviews, product demonstrations, and business cases that effectively communicate Stellantis value propositions.

Strategic Sales Planning

  • Develop territory and account penetration strategies focused on national customer acquisition.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, customer purchasing behaviors, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop customized commercial vehicle and fleet solutions.
  • Create account acquisition strategies that align with Stellantis commercial sales objectives and long-term growth priorities.
  • Utilize CRM and sales analytics tools to track pipeline activity, forecast opportunities, and manage prospect engagement.

Customer Solution Development

  • Consult with prospective customers regarding fleet optimization, vehicle lifecycle management, vocational applications, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Introduce customers to Stellantis fleet programs, incentives, Service Net offerings, and commercial support resources.
  • Coordinate with commercial dealerships, fleet operations, finance, legal, and customer support teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Support customers through vehicle ordering, production planning, delivery coordination, and implementation activities.
  • Leverage relationships with upfitters, bailment pools, and second-stage manufacturers to develop complete commercial vehicle solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing, operations, product planning, finance, customer experience, and dealer network teams to support customer acquisition efforts.
  • Provide market insights and competitive intelligence to influence commercial sales strategies and product planning initiatives.
  • Support national and regional sales initiatives, product launches, and commercial vehicle marketing activities.
  • Work closely with fleet management companies, procurement organizations, and industry partners to expand Stellantis influence and visibility.

Industry Representation

  • Represent Stellantis at customer meetings, fleet industry conferences, trade shows, business associations, and commercial vehicle events.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of fleet industry trends, emerging technologies, sustainability initiatives, vocational applications, and customer requirements.
  • Enhance Stellantis' reputation and market presence within targeted commercial market segments.

Value Creation

  • Drive value creation initiatives across Fleet Sales by identifying process improvements, developing business cases, and executing initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across sales, operations, finance, and related functions to implement value creation opportunities, track outcomes, and ensure successful delivery of strategic business objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong prospecting, consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated success managing long sales cycles and complex customer acquisition efforts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and executive engagement skills.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to achieve ambitious goals under minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
