Overview
Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Strategic Deterrence Research & Analysis SME to support Headquarters United States Air Force (HAF/A10). In this role, you will provide research, analysis, and consultative support on emerging issues related to strategic deterrence. This role will assist establishing, sustaining, and leading a culture of critical inquiry focused on national safeguarding and countering adversary Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Nuclear Deterrence Operations (NDO), Conventional-Nuclear Integration (CNI), arms control matters, and myriad related subjects.
The HAF/A10 contract delivers technical, analytical, operational, programmatic, and planning subject-matter expertise to HAF/A10 and its component divisions to advance national security strategic plans, policies, concepts, and initiatives.
This is a full-time, on-site position located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Research & Analysis. Conduct continuous research and scholarly analysis on a full range of emerging issues in strategic deterrence, including policy, strategy, arms control, NC3, CWMD, and related national security topics. Support exercises and studies to develop new Air Force deterrence concepts and CONOPs.
  • Produce and deliver comprehensive draft and final reports, briefings, and analyses detailing findings, strategic insights, and implications. Research efforts may be short-term or long-term (up to one year) and may require CONUS/OCONUS travel.
  • Organizational Consultation. Provide expert assistance and consultation to devise innovative managerial and organizational solutions for mission challenges arising from emerging deterrence issues. Present proposed solutions and implementation strategies to AF/A10 leadership.
  • As directed, plan, support, and/or conduct forums, workshops, and seminars on emerging deterrence issues. Produce and deliver all event-related materials, including research reports, analyses, briefings, and discussion summaries resulting from the forums.
  • Strategic Document Analysis & Integration. Analyze, interpret, and integrate guidance from a full range of national strategic documents, including Presidential Directives, the National Security Strategy, the National Defense Strategy, Nuclear Posture Review, Missile Defense Review, strategic planning guidance, and operational plans and force management tools. Provide expert advice and formal recommendations for consideration in the development of effective DoW, DAF, and USAF policies, procedures, and guidance related to the force composition and execution of deterrence missions.
  • Strategic Review & Planning Support. Review, analyze, and provide direct support to AF/A10 for its participation in major strategic reviews such as the Program Budget Review (PBR), Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), Joint Strategic Capabilities Plan (JSCP), and (Global Force Management Allocation Plan (GFMAP). Provide analysis and support for the development of official Air Force input, positions, and strategy for these national-level planning activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must possess a TS-level clearance with SCI eligibility and maintain it
Education: Bachelor's degree
Years of Experience: Twelve (12) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline; to include five (5) years of DoD experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Master's degree
Years of Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline; to include five (5) years of DoD experience
