Job description

McCall Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking Drivers for Storm Damage Assessors to work with us on a contract basis as we are called to respond during natural disasters. We work with utilities in the Southeast to assist with power restoration when needed.


The Driver is responsible for working with a Storm Damage Assessor as part of a two-man team, driving to areas of distribution facilities in need of restoration due to accident or natural disaster (hurricane, ice storm, etc.). You may be asked to complete a (brief) application and W-9 form. Having these forms completed in advance of a storm will allow us to respond more quickly when called up to serve a utility partner.


Work is on-call and drivers must be prepared to mobilize on short notice. We offer:


$25/hr., and meals and lodging will be provided. A vehicle per diem is available if the Driver provides the vehicle. Drivers must be equipped with a smart phone device.


Qualifications:

  • Must have aValid Driver's License
  • Must be at least 18 yrs.old


Duties:

  • Responsible for driving the Storm Damage Assessor to check right-of-ways under various terrain and weather conditions. These conditions can include snow, ice, off-road rural areas in swampy or overgrown mountainous terrain.
  • Responsible for communicating hazardous information to the utility representative
