Job description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Transportation/Roadway Project Engineer in our growing Fairfax or Richmond, VA offices. The successful candidate will work on all phases of Transportation Projects for a variety of public and private sector clients. Transportation projects will include interchanges, roadway widenings, roundabout design, bridge projects, drainage systems, storm water management, utility relocations and preparation of contract documents; primarily for Caltrans and public agencies.

Transportation projects will include horizontal and vertical road alignments, drainage systems, storm water management, traffic studies, utility relocations, development of maintenance of traffic plans, and preparation of contract documents. The successful candidate must be flexible, technologically savvy, and client focused. The work required by the successful candidate is diverse and requires strong capabilities in AutoCAD, Microstation, and Microsoft Office Suite.


· BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

· VA PE license, or the ability to obtain within 1 year.

· 8+ years of experience in transportation engineering.

· Proficient with Microstation.

· Ability to work in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.

· Ability to communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff.

· Ability to compose technical reports, memorandums, and other written communication.

· Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.

The projected range for this position is $118,000 - $151,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
