Job description

Job Summary: The Assistant Manager manages overall store operations and the achievement of company goals and directives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Superior Customer Service & Sales: Lead the team to provide top tier, "helpful" service.
  • Resolve customer complaints and difficult situations professionally.
  • Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
  • Provide a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
  • Ensure all calls and pages are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
  • Possess excellent product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
  • Open and close the store.
  • Work with Store Manager on all aspects of store operations.
  • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor and outdoor merchandise areas.
  • Ensure that weekly price changes and label updates are completed timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels.
  • Assist to ensure that cycle counts and negative on hand reports are completed timely and accurately.
  • Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store.
  • Ensure all signage is current in the store.
  • Assist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and promotional and incremental merchandising.
  • Assist in hiring, scheduling, reviewing, rewarding and coaching Sales Associates and Cashiers with the approval of the Store Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School or GED equivalent.  Completion of NHRA Advanced Course in Hardware Retailing recommended.
  • Previous retail management experience preferred. Hardware experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

The successful applicant must have good communication and problem-solving skills and present a neat, positive appearance.  Past retail and or management experience preferred but not required.
