Facilities Custodian Professional

Location- Hattiesburg, MS 39401

Contract- 3 Years

Position Summary

The Facilities Custodian Professional is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment across buildings and surrounding areas. This role involves performing a wide range of custodial and light maintenance tasks, ensuring facilities are properly maintained and hazards are reported in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on attitude, attention to detail, and the physical capability to perform labor-intensive duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors to ensure cleanliness and safety

  • Empty and sanitize trash receptacles; collect and sort recycling materials

  • Clean, sanitize, and restock bathrooms and other common areas

  • Clean and service custodial equipment as required

  • Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and general equipment

  • Lock and unlock windows, doors, and gates as needed

  • Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department

  • Ensure grounds and surrounding areas are clean and well-maintained

  • Use a forklift to load and unload materials for the Vehicle Maintenance Center

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Prior custodial and groundskeeping experience preferred

  • Experience operating a forklift preferred
