Job description

This position is responsible for the overall operation and management of a retail store, in the absence of the store manager. This position is actively engaged in selling donated and new merchandise to derive a net profit by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Educate customers and the community about the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Demonstrate our core values through actions and words.
  • Meet store production requirements and standards on a daily basis.
  • Utilize Kaizen to create a steady production flow of donations to the sales floor and to keep production/ dock areas clear of donation build up.
  • Promote a safe working/ shopping environment by following and holding employees accountable for all safety policy and procedures.
  • Enforce security and loss prevention procedures, including ensuring sales transactions are processed and reported accurately, all monies are collected, counted and deposited.
  • Create a positive, courteous, and efficient experience for our shoppers and donors.
  • Assist in achievement of monthly and yearly sales goal, meeting the assigned expense to revenue percentage assigned to store.
  • Assist in training, supervising and scheduling of store personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly manages 2 subordinate store management staff. It also directly supervises 8+ non-management employees. The position also has a role in the training and development of those staff, with additional responsibilities including planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
