Job description

Job Summary:

The Shop Assistant provides general labor and operational support to the shop by assisting with facility upkeep, equipment preparation, inventory organization, material handling, and other miscellaneous tasks. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while supporting mechanics, technicians, and shop personnel. The Shop Assistant will perform a variety of non-technical duties and may assist multiple departments as business needs require.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
  • Sweep, mop, remove trash, and perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Organize tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Assist with shop setup and cleanup before and after projects.
  • Wash, clean, and prepare equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
  • Move equipment and materials throughout the shop and yard using approved methods.
  • Fuel equipment and perform basic fluid checks as assigned.
  • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
  • Receive, stock, and organize parts, supplies, and materials.
  • Assist with inventory counts and restocking.
  • Deliver parts and materials to technicians and shop personnel.
  • Maintain storage areas in an orderly condition.
  • Assist mechanics, welders, technicians, and other shop personnel with non-technical tasks.
  • Operate hand tools and basic shop equipment safely.
  • Assemble or disassemble simple items as directed.
  • Run company errands, pick up parts, and deliver materials as needed. 
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist other departments with general support tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is helpful.
  • Good organizational and housekeeping skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to safety.


Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop or crouch and climb ladders/stairs.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operator basic hand tools and shop equipment.
