Job description

SUMMARY
Provide assistance in the general daily operation of the HCC Mailroom/Bookstore Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturday home football games may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assist with processing, sorting, and distributing campus mail, both incoming and outgoing.
2. Deliver outgoing mail to the local U.S. Post Office daily using the assigned College vehicle.
Keep gas tank filled with assigned gas card and report any problems with the vehicle.
3. Assist customers in the retail area or on the phone, including taking payments, providing information requested, transferring calls and taking messages as appropriate.
4. Provide supplies to employees as necessary and record transactions appropriately.
5. Assist with Bookstore operations to include
- Unpacking and packing of textbooks
- Shelving of textbooks in an orderly manner
- Assisting with textbook checkout and check-in
- Assisting with inventory, pricing of incoming supplies and retail merchandise
6. In the absence of the Bookstore Manager, open the store at the beginning of operating hours and close it at the end of operating hours.
7. Provide coverage in the Bookstore during home football games and special events as assigned.
8. Maintain a service oriented and positive attitude toward the students, employees, and community people who
interact with the Bookstore/Mail Room area, providing assistance with a smile.
9. Assist with pulling class rosters, section schedules, and use necessary information to input into our eBook providers database as well as pulling reports from our point of sale system as necessary.
10. Input textbooks into Point of Sale system each semester verifying each textbook is correct.
11. Input retail merchandise and supplies inventory into point of sale system accurately.
12. Updating retail items on online retail store after inputting retail merchandise into point of sale system
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May be assigned supervision of 1 to 2 Work Study/Arrangement Students. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing student's work.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; college or vocational training helpful. Prior experience in an educational setting helpful. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

A valid driver's license with no major infractions within the past five years is required.
