Job description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Storage Engineer to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise storage systems across onpremises, cloud, and hybrid environments (SAN, NAS, virtualized storage).
  • Provision storage, manage zoning and LUNs, configure replication/sync, and schedule snapshots to meet RTO/RPO requirements.
  • Apply firmware updates, capacity adjustments, performance tuning, and monitor storage health/alerts to identify and remediate degradations or bottlenecks.
  • Execute backup and recovery workflows: validate schedules, perform test restores, and manage retention and protection configurations.
  • Maintain configuration records, asset inventories, change logs, and documentation in alignment with DoD/Army/RMF compliance.
  • Collaborate with server, virtualization, backup, and cybersecurity teams to resolve incidents, support patching cycles, and validate data protection.
  • Support cloudhosted storage lifecycle activities, optimize performance, and document operational changes for sustainment.
  • Update SOPs, runbooks, topology diagrams, and storage architecture artifacts to support change management and audits.
  • Identify recurring issues and drive process improvements to enhance availability, scalability, and security of enterprise storage.

Qualifications

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR
    • Relevant DoD/military training (examples: F07DZZ1; M03385G; M10395B; M223854; A5310021; W2500750; DISA (451) Training; System Administrator (Intermediate) Playlist); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: CompTIA Cloud+; GICSP; GSEC; Security+; SSCP).
  • Required experience and skills:

    • Storage engineering, administration, or systems experience supporting enterprise environments.
    • Handson experience with SAN/NAS provisioning, replication, snapshots, zoning, LUN management, and performance tuning.
    • Familiarity with backup/recovery tools and procedures, cloud storage services, and storage monitoring/observability.
    • Ability to maintain auditquality configuration records and support RMF/ATO evidence requirements.
    • Strong troubleshooting, scripting/automation (PowerShell/Python) for operational tasks, and collaboration skills with infrastructure teams.
  • Desired:

    • Prior DoD/ARNG enterprise storage or cloud storage operations experience.
    • Experience with storage virtualization platforms, storage orchestration/automation, and capacity planning tools.

Target Salary Range$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
