What are storage jobs?

Storage jobs refer to positions involved in managing, organizing, and maintaining storage facilities or systems. This can include roles in warehouses, data centers, or self-storage businesses, where responsibilities may range from inventory management and record keeping to ensuring the security and accessibility of stored items. Storage professionals play a crucial role in keeping operations efficient and making sure that goods or data are safely stored and retrieved when needed. The specific duties will vary based on the industry and type of storage, from physical goods to digital data.

What is the difference between Storage vs Data Analyst?

AspectStorageData Analyst
Required CredentialsIT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Storage+)Data analysis certifications (e.g., CAP, Microsoft Certified Data Analyst)
Work EnvironmentData centers, server rooms, cloud platformsOffice, remote, or client sites with data sets
Industry UsageIT, cloud services, data managementBusiness, finance, marketing, and tech sectors

Storage roles focus on managing and maintaining data storage systems, while Data Analysts interpret data to support business decisions. Both roles require technical skills but differ in daily tasks and industry focus.

  • The varied scientific data needs include; incorporating storage reliability, immutability, data integrity, and performance principles across the facility's distributed locations.
  • Performance and Cost Modeling: Develop and validate models to predict storage performance, capacity requirements, and total cost of ownership at scale.
  • Must define Key Performance Parameters (KPPs) and benchmarking strategies that will govern storage system selection and validation.
  • Metrics and Observability: Establish the foundation for storage system observability, defining initial SLOs and SLIs for storage performance and availability, architecting, and prototyping.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting solutions that will support both the design validation phase and future facility operations
