Job Title: Med Surg Registered Nurse

Description:
Unit consists of 42 beds.
Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6.
Staff may experience a 1:6 ratio at least once a week.
Charge Nurse is present on each shift.
Charge Nurse does take an assignment.
No titratable drips are administered, except for Heparin.
Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours on the floor.
Telemetry monitoring is present, with a centralized station for monitoring.
Nurse aides or patient care technicians are available on the unit with a ratio of 1:10-12.
Shifts are scheduled from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.
Weekend and holiday requirements are as needed.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Floating requirements may include PCU or Burn units.
Scrub color is navy blue.
The first week includes classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor.
Requests for time off should be provided upfront and additional requests will not be approved after submission.
The hospital may cancel up to four shifts during the assignment.
Charting system used is EPIC.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for this position.
