About the Role

American Stone is hiring a full-time Saw Technician 1 for our Saw Shop.

  • Pay: $16–$19 per hour, depending on experience

You will operate stone-cutting equipment, make accurate cuts, and help keep production running safely and efficiently.

You will also train and guide General Laborers and complete basic equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Operate single-blade and double-blade stone saws
  • Operate the tumbler, crusher, and guillotine
  • Assist with the 100-inch gantry saw
  • Learn and assist with splitting stone
  • Make accurate cuts that reduce waste and maximize product value
  • Read a tape measure quickly and accurately
  • Safely operate forklifts, loaders, and excavators
  • Train and guide General Laborers
  • Assign work to General Laborers assisting with equipment
  • Identify stone by color and type
  • Complete basic preventative maintenance
  • Replace expendable parts, including fuses and saw blades
  • Keep the shop and yard clean and organized
  • Report unsafe equipment or needed repairs
  • Help with other assigned tasks
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Saw Technician, machine operator, equipment operator, or in stone production is preferred
  • Able to read a tape measure quickly and accurately
  • Able to safely operate assigned machinery and equipment
  • Able to safely lift up to 80 pounds
  • Able to stand and do physical work for long periods
  • Comfortable working around heavy machinery
  • Able to pass a dr*g screening
  • Willing to wear required safety equipment
  • Able to train and guide General Laborers
  • Dependable and able to arrive on time
  • Able to follow safety procedures and instructions
  • Able to recognize unsafe equipment or working conditions
  • Spanish is a plus

Safety, accuracy, and dependability are essential for this position.

Schedule

This is a full-time position.

The available schedule is generally during the first morning shift. Weekends are off.
