Job description

Located in Fairfield, CA
Salary: $21.00 - $23.00
Summary
Performs general warehouse duties that include shipping, receiving, distribution to member agencies, general facilities and equipment maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for safely loading and unloading warehouse shipments.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including conventional and stand-up forklifts, stackers, powered and manual pallet jacks and hand-trucks.
  • Completes daily inspections of material handling and refrigeration equipment. Updates and maintains equipment records and the charting of refrigeration temperature logs.
  • Assist in the general maintenance of the facilities including repairs, painting, and special projects. (As well as directing volunteers assisting in these projects.)
  • Responsible for timely and accurate order preparation for shipment of Food Box, Purchased, School Lunch, USDA, and other food programs.
  • Assure the accurate receipt, tagging, placement and re-stocking of all products to insure inventory counts are correct and inventory is stored in the proper location.
  • Weigh and log incoming food drive product.
  • Perform periodic inventory (cycle) counts. ( Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly )
  • When directed, drive company's vehicles to assist in the delivery and pick up of company's products.
  • Provides customer service, problems solving and ensuring the security of the Food Bank and its staff.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation on the warehouse and monitors pest control systems.
  • Guides and directs assigned volunteers in the daily processes of the warehouse and facilities maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to facilitate warehousing operations.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to perform duties in accordance with the Safety and Injury Prevention Program.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks within a changing work environment.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to our member agencies and other departments.
  • Prior experience with material handling equipment. (i.e. Forklifts, Pallet Jacks) Current Fork Lift Certification preferred.
  • Available to work Saturdays occasionally.
  • Basic mechanical, mathematical and writing skills.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from minus 2 degrees to above 90 degrees.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, and reach above your shoulders.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus in order to operate vehicles legally.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance.
