Stock Room Supervisor

Job Description

The Stock Room Supervisor oversees all inventory control, stockroom, and warehouse activities in a clean manufacturing environment. This role manages material flow from receipt through storage and kitting to outbound shipment, ensuring accurate inventory records in both physical locations and the ERP system. The position leads a team of stockroom and warehouse personnel, supports production with timely material availability, and drives continuous improvement in processes, quality, and efficiency.

Shift: 6:15am - 2:45pm

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory stock levels and locations in both physical storage areas and the ERP system to ensure accurate, real-time visibility of materials.
  • Maintain high inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, reconciliation between physical and system inventory, and consistent organization and cleanliness of the stockroom and warehouse.
  • Partner with the Warehouse Manager to identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Supply the production floor with required materials to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations and on-time delivery.
  • Plan, implement, and manage material control activities for materials, parts, components, and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Oversee logistics operations and systems within a manufacturing environment, including management of work orders and incoming materials.
  • Direct stockroom and warehouse personnel to meet operational, inventory, and production objectives and deadlines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems supporting inventory management, kitting, shipping, and receiving.
  • Ensure materials are ordered, stocked, and available to meet production requirements while maintaining acceptable inventory levels and minimizing excess.
  • Develop material schedules and coordinate material flow with Purchasing, Production, and other internal stakeholders to support supply chain monitoring processes.
  • Perform outbound shipment packing and staging in accordance with site policies and customer requirements.
  • Pull, kit, and stage materials as required to support manufacturing operations and work order execution.
  • Verify inbound shipments against documentation, inspect for damage or defects, and report issues for timely resolution.
  • Coordinate domestic and international transportation to ensure safe, timely, and compliant movement of products.
  • Maintain import and export documentation and compliance records in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Identify root causes of inventory and process discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including work instruction development and process standardization.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively across departments to ensure alignment on material availability, priorities, and schedules.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks; complete required training as needed.
  • Ensure adequate planning and resource allocation to meet inventory, production, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Implement tactical improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality within stockroom and warehouse operations.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor that impact inventory and production performance.
  • Provide status updates, reports, and presentations to support production, inventory, and quality objectives.
  • Partner with managers, supervisors, and team leads to resolve issues affecting production flow and product quality.
  • Coordinate and execute employee training to ensure adherence to documented processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Ensure sufficient trained resources are available on each shift to support ongoing operations and business needs.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, work instructions, and procedures as required.
  • Mentor and coach employees to support their career development, skills growth, and overall team performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by applying lean manufacturing principles, total quality management, and Six Sigma tools within the stockroom and warehouse.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • 5+ years of experience working with ERP systems to manage inventory and material transactions.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience overseeing stockroom, warehouse, or inventory teams.
  • Strong stockroom and inventory control expertise, including cycle counting and reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations, including inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Proficiency in material handling and warehouse inventory management processes.
  • Ability to develop and follow material control procedures, including kitting, shipping, and receiving.
  • Experience coordinating material flow to support production and work order execution.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve inventory discrepancies using root cause and corrective action methods.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively across departments and with leadership.
  • Capability to safely operate or learn to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and coach team members in processes and best practices.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement in inventory accuracy, efficiency, and quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience within electronics manufacturing or printed circuit board (PCB) environments is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP platforms for inventory and material management.
  • Knowledge of import and export documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles, total quality management, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Ability to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and work instructions for stockroom and warehouse operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and record keeping.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with changing priorities and deadlines.

Work Environment

Work takes place in stockroom and warehouse areas as well as on the production floor, involving regular interaction with production, purchasing, and other departments. The position uses ERP systems, such as SAP or similar platforms, along with standard warehouse equipment including forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks. Employees follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
